East Sussex Youth Orchestra
Under the advice of the Government and Department for Education we are working hard to get the East Sussex Youth Orchestra back up and running as soon as possible.
Until we can see you again in person, here are some Virtual Music Centre Activities to suit current ESYO Members.
ESYO draws together the county’s most talented teenagers to share a great classical repertoire with energy and enthusiasm.
The intensive courses take place during the summer. A range of nationally and internationally acclaimed conductors direct the orchestra. Each season culminates in outstanding and inspiring performances in prestigious concert venues in Sussex and further afield.
Founded in 1979, ESYO offers members the opportunity to learn from professional tutors and from each other. It is not just about the music, it is about being a better team player, developing confidence, concentration and social skills.
ESYO has toured Europe; Belgium, Poland, Spain, France and the Netherlands. Most recently, we celebrated our 35th anniversary in Germany and the Czech Republic and will be touring Estonia and Finland for our 40th Anniversary in 2019. Closer to home we have performed at the Royal College of Music and the Royal Albert Hall.
Repertoire has included the:
Dvorak Cello Concerto,
Bruckner’s Symphony No.7
Stravinsky’s Firebird and Petrushka
Bernstein’s West Side Story
Sibelius Second Symphony
Rimsky- Korsakov’s Scheherazade
Beethoven’s Eroica symphony.
In recent years we developed a link between ESYO and the Royal National Lifeboat Institute, with concerts raising money for Lifeboat Appeals in London and the South coast.
Who should apply?
